Tilt & Turn Windows explained

Tilt and turn windows do two jobs from one handle: tilt inwards at the top for secure trickle ventilation, or turn fully inwards to open wide. That inward opening makes them ideal for flats and upper floors where cleaning the outside safely matters, and many configurations double as a fire escape. They are popular in apartments and contemporary builds where practicality and a clean European look go hand in hand.

Good to know

Tilt & Turn Windows — your questions answered

How long do new windows take to fit?
Most homes are done in a day or two once materials arrive. Your surveyor will confirm timings for your specific job when you get the quote.
Are your windows energy efficient?
Yes — we fit A-rated double glazing as standard, with triple glazing available where you want the best possible warmth and noise reduction.
Can I get windows in a colour other than white?
Absolutely. uPVC comes in white, woodgrain foils and a wide range of colours; aluminium can be powder-coated to almost any RAL shade.
Do you replace just the glass or the whole window?
Both. If the frames are sound but the units are misted, we can reglaze; if the frames are past it, a full replacement is the better long-term spend.
Will new windows reduce condensation?
Modern sealed units and warm-edge spacer bars greatly reduce internal condensation compared with old or blown double glazing.
Do you fit windows in conservation areas?
Yes. We offer timber and heritage-style options, and secondary glazing where the outward appearance can't be changed.
Is there a guarantee?
Every installation comes with a workmanship guarantee, and the products themselves carry manufacturer guarantees.
Do I need planning permission for new windows?
Like-for-like replacements usually fall under permitted development, but listed buildings and conservation areas can differ — we'll flag anything to check.
